The park consists of a massive pink granite dome that rises up above the Central Texas area. The park is beautiful and has lots to do. There are lots of things to do in the outdoors like hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, picnicking, bird watching, geocaching, and stargazing.
There are about 11 miles of hiking trails to explore while at the park. Keep in mind that all the trails close 30 minutes after sunset. There is also a great place to enjoy rock climbing while at the park you can pick up a route map. The maps include climbing information that you may want to review. The park allows pets but only in designated areas. The park doesn't allow pets to be left unattended.
The office is open Sunday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The hours are longer during the busy season. The park is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm. During weekends, holidays, and school breaks the park is a lot busier. Make sure that you purchase a save the day pass as the park does close when it reaches capacity. Passes can be purchased up to 30 days before your visit. The park is a great place to enjoy the day outdoors.
